Ekhaya FC head coach Enos Chatama has shared his thoughts after the Cowboys were drawn against Moyale FC in the Round of 32 of the 2025 FDH Bank Cup.
The gaffer described the draw as ‘fair’ but warned of a tough challenge ahead.

All in all, that’s how cup draws are, you never expect to meet any specific team. You can be drawn against anyone.
Meeting Moyale for the second time this season:
It’s a completely different ball game. In the league, you play home and away, you might win at home and lose away, or vice versa. But in the cup, it’s simple: whoever loses is out. You’re automatically knocked out. It’s a very tough competition, one that goes down to the very last day.
Playing away in a one-legged tie:
Cup matches are very different from league fixtures. Every team puts everything on the line because there’s no second chance, no return leg. Each team fights hard to reach the next round. It will be a tough match.
Favourites based on league standings?
In cup games, league form doesn’t matter. We’ve seen teams struggling in the league end up lifting the trophy. It only takes three, four, or five games and you’re in the final. Cup football is about tactics for one game, whereas the league is a marathon, you need consistency, perseverance, mental strength, and everything else over many matches.
Wishing to be drawn against a lower-division team?
No. That’s not how cup draws work. Anything can happen. You can’t wish for a specific opponent, cup games are like a lottery. And usually, most lower league teams get eliminated early. It often comes down to a battle among the Super League’s top dogs.
With league survival also in focus, what are the FDH Bank Cup targets?
With cup games, you can never say for sure that you’ll win the title. You prepare one match at a time. We play Moyale, and we see what happens. You may wish to get to the other side of the river, but you may never cross the bridge. So don’t talk too much before the game is played. Cup games are always tough.
Moyale are a big team, they’ve reached the semifinals and finals of many cup competitions. Ekhaya are a new team. We’ve never played in a cup final. So instead of talking, we’ll prepare, focus, and see what happens.
