EKHAYA WEEKLY | Cup Test for the Cowboys, Reserves & U19s Out to Keep the Summit -Ekhaya FC

It’s a full-throttle week for Ekhaya FC as the action kicks off midweek and rolls straight into the weekend.

From the Reserves and U-19s looking to defend their spots at the summit, to the senior Cowboys gearing up for a cup battle in Rumphi, and the Cowgirls aiming to keep their winning momentum, every team has a mission to accomplish.

Here’s how the second week of August is shaping up across the Ekhaya family.

Wednesday Kickoff
Both our Reserves and Under-19s, currently sitting top of their respective league, are in midweek action aiming to extend their lead.

Reserves: League leaders in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League, 33 points from 13 matches, host Chilobwe United at Mpira Stadium.

They hold a 4-point advantage despite a game in hand, with 27 goals scored since bouncing back from two early losses.

U-19s: Still unbeaten after five matches, Mphatso Chihami’s boys lead the table with 13 points (4W, 1D).

Fresh from a 2-0 win over Mthutha, they welcome CC Stars to Chilomoni Stadium.

Weekend Showdown
The weekend spotlight shifts to the first team and the women’s side.

The Cowboys
Back in rhythm after a gritty 1-0 home win over Mafco, they now travel north to Rumphi for an FDH Bank Cup tie against Moyale FC.

Earlier this season, they beat Moyale 3-0 in the league, but this time it’s knockout football, a ticket to the Round of 16 is on the line.

In their debut top-flight season, the Cowboys have done well as they ended the first round 4th on the table and it is time toSta test themselves with league football.

The Cowgirls

Bouncing back from their league opener loss in style, they crushed Bvumbwe 7-0 last weekend to climb to second place.

With 3 points from two matches, they’ll look to stay in the top 2 when they host Msuwazi at Mpira Stadium (11 AM kickoff).
