Lungu Named December Player of the Month

Left back Alick Lungu has been named the Union Building Contractors Player of the Month for December, following a series of committed and standout performances during a challenging festive period for Ekhaya FC.

Despite enduring a difficult run of results, which saw the Cowboys suffer five consecutive defeats before closing the month with a much-needed victory, Lungu remained a shining light in the team.

The Flames international maintained his high standards on the left flank, consistently displaying resilience, discipline, and leadership when the team needed it most.

Lungu was particularly impressive against the now crowned TNM Super League of Malawi champions Mighty Wanderers as we suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.

His efforts did not go unnoticed in the next match, as he went on to defy the odds by clinching the TNM Super League of Malawi Player of the Match award, even in Ekhaya FC’s  1–0 home defeat to defending champions Silver Strikers, a rare and commendable individual honour in a losing effort.

He started strongly in the highly anticipated encounter against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, but his evening was cut short after struggling with a recurring injury, which forced him to withdraw from action at halftime.

This award is a fitting recognition of Lungu’s professionalism, consistency, and fighting spirit throughout December.

Congratulations, Alick, on a well-deserved honour, and we wish you a speedy recovery.
