The Cowboys return to the tournament looking to build on last year’s impressive performance, where the club finished as runners-up. In that edition, Ekhaya FC produced a strong showing by defeating Mighty Tigers in the opening match 2-1 to book a place in the final. However, their run ended in a narrow 1–0 defeat to FCB Big Bullets in the decisive match.
This year’s Sapitwa 4 tournament will form part of the club’s preparations for the upcoming campaign as the Cowboys gear up for their second season in top-flight football.
Ekhaya FC enjoyed a commendable debut season in the elite league last year, finishing 7th on the table, a performance that underlined the team’s competitiveness and steady growth at the highest level of Malawian football.
With another opportunity to test themselves in a competitive pre-season environment, the Cowboys , who regrouped last Tuesday, will be aiming to make the most of the two-day tournament at Mulanje Park as preparations for the new season gather momentum.
